FAQ
Questions parents ask.

What age is PetPrep for?
It is designed for children aged about 7 to 12, and works well up to 16. Adults can also use it to test whether a demanding breed fits their life.
How much time does it take each day?
A few minutes for food, water and cleaning — plus the walk a real dog would need anyway.
Does the app track my child's location?
No. It only counts steps from the phone's motion sensor and asks for that permission when the child opens the walk. GPS is not used.
Does my child need an email address?
No. You create the account; your child logs in with a 6-digit code you generate. We only store a nickname and, optionally, a birth year.
What happens if my child forgets?
The pet first sends gentle reminders. If a need stays at zero, the pet gets ill and spends 12 hours at the vet. After a full day without care, the virtual shelter takes it — and you can start again.
Can siblings share a pet?
Yes. Each child signs their own contract, every action is credited to whoever did it and each child gets their own fair Care Score.
What about school and bedtime?
Set quiet hours. The pet slows down, nothing is sent and meals that fall entirely in quiet hours are handled by you.
Is it scary for children?
No. Consequences are real but gentle: the pet goes to the vet or the shelter, never anything graphic, and there is always a fresh start.
Which animals are available?
Dogs today: a free mixed breed and the Border Collie. Cats are next, more species are planned.
Which languages?
English and Slovenian today. More languages are coming as PetPrep launches in new countries.
What happens after we get a real pet?
PetPrep can become an AI assistant for your real pet. This part is in development.
