Can cats eat cooked chicken?

Yes, plain cooked chicken is fine as an occasional treat for cats. Boil it, remove all bones and skin, and add no seasoning. Count it as part of your cat's daily food, not a replacement for it.

Updated:

Why

Cats Protection and RSPCA Australia both say boiled or steamed chicken can be offered occasionally. It must be cooked and boneless, because cooked bones can splinter. Feeding only cooked chicken long-term can lead to nutritional deficiencies, so it stays a treat.

What to do

Offer a small piece first. If your cat gets vomiting or diarrhoea afterwards, stop and ask your vet. If your cat swallowed a cooked chicken bone, call your vet.

How to give it

Boiled or steamed, plain, with no bones, skin or seasoning; small pieces within the daily food allowance.
