Can dogs drink coffee?
No. Coffee contains caffeine, which is toxic to dogs; dogs are more sensitive to it than people. A lick or two is unlikely to cause poisoning, but coffee grounds and beans can cause serious toxicity. Chocolate-covered coffee beans are a double threat.

Why
Caffeine overstimulates the heart and nervous system. It is the same kind of substance that makes chocolate toxic. A lick or two of coffee is unlikely to poison, but unused coffee grounds and beans can cause serious toxicity, and chocolate-covered beans are a double threat.

What to do
Contact your vet or a pet poison helpline as soon as you realise your dog has had caffeine. Note what it was (drink, grounds, beans, tea bags) and roughly how much. Don't wait for signs: early treatment matters.
